One Month and Counting…

Our boat is scheduled for completion in less than a month.  While the good folks at Tomco will not (understandably) put a pin on the calendar, they have consistently targeted “late March” and are still holding to that goal.

These photographs are from early this week — the last days of February — so we are truly in countdown mode.

The galley takes shape.  Our VitriFrigo is an upgrade from the standard NovaKool, and we think we will enjoy much better performance from its two compressors, additional insulation, a freezer drawer and better space.  The countertop has been installed and is weighted down with cement buckets. The sinks are in, and the stove is ready to go.  I can smell dinner!

We went out on a limb here and ordered a combo washer-dryer.  We are well aware that some folks hate these things, but others love them so we’re giving it a shot.  We’ll have lots of power and water on the boat, and the advantages of doing some quick loads on the fly while cruising are huge.  It won’t eliminate the need for the hated trips to the laundromat, but it should reduce the frequency.
The master cabin is coming together with maple ceilings (instead of the standard sepele) to lighten the space up, and cabinetry.  We will have a LOT more storage space than we are accustomed to.
The upper deck has the new dinghy crane and stainless rails, and you can see some of the electrical and mechanical equipment in place on the fly bridge.

We expect to arrive at Tomco in LaConner, Washington by mid-March to witness the final days of construction, the launch, and sea trials.  Very exciting!
