Maine Cruise – Days 15 – 18 – Northeast Harbor & Mt. Desert

After our visit to the wild woodlands of Isle au Haut, it was time to head back to civilization.  Off to one of our favorite hang-outs, the home of Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island, and also home of the spectacular Acadia National Park and the tourist mecca, Bar Harbor. First East Coast Cruise – Block Island

Although we still have a long project list (doesn’t every boat?), we have headed out for our first east coast cruise in the new tug.  It is bizarre traveling these well-known home waters in a power boat when I have spent my entire life exploring them in a sailboat.  The Twilight Zone.  Our priorities have changed, our decision-making parameters are adjusting, the passages are faster and the destinations are different. Shakedown – Part 1

 Anacortes

Esmeralde’s shakedown started with our maiden voyage from LaConner to Anacortes, where we spent three nights at Cap Sante Marina.

The first day in Anacortes we sat out gale to storm force winds which blew a solid 40 knots and gusted to 60 much of the afternoon.  It was a hang-on-tight day.  The boat show, scheduled to start in Anacortes that day at the marina, was pretty much shut down. Continue reading Shakedown – Part 1
