We took a break from cruising for about a week to hang out on the boat in Annapolis, visit with friends, get some exercise and re-charge. And then we got delayed — by weather, naturally.
October 22 – 27, 2021 Annapolis, MD Days 11 – 15
Just when you are getting ready to toss the lines and get under way again, the weather stops you. We had enjoyed five days in Annapolis and were ready to move on, when a gale descended on Chesapeake Bay. We decided one or two more days would be the wise choice.
The Delaware Bay gave us it’s common treatment: messy. Fortunately we had waited until conditions had begun to abate and we made it up the the C&D Canal without drama.
October 20 – 21, 2021 Cape May, Bohemia River and Annapolis Days 9 – 10
OK, so we had been sitting in Cape May for two days and three nights. We had waited long enough for good weather. Conditions were forecast to be better than previous days, although far from ideal. We were ready to move and accepted the fact that we would be bashing up the bay, at least for a while.
Annapolis gave us a little bit of everything, as it often does. Lovely fall days, crab cakes, torrential rain, good friends. And we stayed a few days too long, thanks to Amazon.com.

We normally don’t stay in one place longer than two or three days, unless there are circumstances beyond our control. We expected to stay in Annapolis for three days. That’s usually enough fun for us. However, both the weather and Amazon.com conspired against us and kept us in our slip right on Ego Alley for five nights.
Architecture, food, and lots of walking kept us properly entertained.
Days, 14-17, October 28-31, Halloween!
Our primary reason for heading to Annapolis so soon after reaching the Chesapeake was — once again — our heater. One more overnight parts delivery from the west coast, and hopefully that project would be DONE. Arriving on a sunny Sunday afternoon was a bonus. We had decided to take a slip right smack in downtown, at the City Docks, aka Ego Alley. Being in the center of things can be a lot of fun, and since Annapolis is a little more laid back in the fall, it seemed a good idea. Continue reading Annapolis Done Right: Ego Alley→
